My research as a Leverhulme Trust Doctoral Scholar explores how interpreter-AI co-performance can improve cross-language accessibility in deliberative and institutional settings, with particular attention to low-resource languages. The project examines how emerging AI tools interact with human interpreting practice and how these hybrid workflows shape multilingual participation, language justice, and access to public communication.

At the beginning of my PhD, I focus on mapping the academic landscape through a literature review and an exploratory case study that build on insights from my industry experience developing simultaneous interpreting technologies in multilingual institutional contexts. In the later stage of the project, I will conduct an empirical study examining how interpreter-AI collaboration is performed and perceived by different stakeholders, with particular attention to the experiences of end users whose ability to access and participate in multilingual communication is central to the research.
