Biography
Jackie is a Registered Adult Nurse with over 25 years of experience, with a clinical background strongly focused on oncology alongside experience in acute medicine, critical care, outreach, and practice development. She specialised in cancer care, working as a Ward Sister within a large cancer centre and with Macmillan Cancer Support at network level, contributing to a number of national initiatives.
She has been involved in a range of strategic initiatives over the years, both locally and nationally, focused on improving the delivery and quality of patient care. Two consistent themes underpin her career: developing innovative ways of working to support high-quality patient care, and influencing practice through research, learning, and teaching.
Jackie was initially appointed as a Cancer Tutor within the School of Health Sciences, working across undergraduate provision to support the development of specialist knowledge and practice. This role marked the beginning of her transition into higher education and continues to shape her approach to teaching, curriculum design, and student development. She is currently an Associate Professor and Associate Head of School (Education), providing leadership across undergraduate and postgraduate provision.

My interprofessional teaching expertise focuses on the development of innovative learning and teaching strategies, leadership, and decision-making across both undergraduate and postgraduate education.
