Biography
Dr Martyn Broadhead is an educator, creative practitioner and researcher, whose main expertise is in 3D modelling, 3D animation, motion capture, games design and interactive digital media. His work explores the use of augmented reality within education, with a focus on accessibility, dyslexia, literacy learning and inclusive design. His PhD research examined the design of marker-based augmented reality systems for decoding sythetic phonics and literacy learning, with broader implications for how technology supports differentiated learning and accessibility in primary schools.
Martyn has taught across Animation, Motion Graphics, Digital Media, Games Design, VFX and Computer Science programmes, supporting students in developing both technical expertise and creative practice through industry-informed learning. He won the University of Greenwich Accessible Education Award, Student-Led Teaching Awards (2023). He continues to contribute to discussions surrounding immersive media and games education through conference presentations, collaborative publications and interdisciplinary creative research.
Martyn’s background spans theatre, graphic design and social enterprise, before establishing a career in higher education.
