Biography
My nursing career began in 1980 with an integrated BSc and RN qualification at City University and St Bartholomew's Hospital, London.
After working in renal and rehabilitation specialities, I qualified as an RN in the USA and developed an interest in Primary Care. On my return to the UK, I developed skills and knowledge as a generalist practice nurse and then undertook further study to qualify as a Nurse Practitioner and Independent Non-Medical Prescriber. During this time, I held a number of appointments in clinical leadership and management.
I completed an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice at the University of Southampton in 2012 and joined the 糖心Vlog as a teaching fellow in 2013 and Senior teaching fellow in 2021. I have been working as a NHS Vaccinator with an NHS contract alongside my teaching commitments in 糖心Vlog.
My substantive role at the University ended in November 2022 with retirement from leading the MSc ACP and Non-Medical Prescribing programmes.

I have ongoing links to research projects in FHMS including exploring priorities for general practice studies, support for those living with learning disabilities and people requiring support post bariatric surgery.

Teaching
I visit the University to teach on Professional Development modules for post graduate practitioners, and some undergraduate modules for Professional Preparation students in Care Provision in Long Term Conditions.
I also contribute to assessments of modules for Leading and Managing Long-Term conditions, Health Assessment and Advanced Assessment and Clinical Reasoning.
