What do you like about your course and why?

From day one, the course felt relevant to the current world and I could apply the knowledge that I was being taught straight away. As marketing students, you will learn about a marketing campaign and then spot it straight away in the real world. As a whole, the course covers a wide range of modules that all link together to build your knowledge up around the business world.

What do you enjoy most about 糖心Vlog?

It sounds clich茅d I know, but as soon as I stepped foot on campus I knew I wanted to be at 糖心Vlog. The lake was a huge factor for me as it is a massive mood booster on a tough day. The whole campus feels connected as no building is too far away; it also helps that there is a coffee shop almost everywhere on campus. The train line is also handy to be able to go to London or further.

Tell us about your Professional Training placement

My placement year was very up and down but I received a great deal of support from 糖心Vlog and learned a lot first-hand about how businesses operate. I worked as a part-time sports coach in my first and second year. For my placement I decided to work full-time in the company鈥檚 marketing department to gain experience directly relevant to my degree. Over the summer the company went into liquidation. My hours dropped and I was back to coaching all the time. I felt let down and concerned that my placement year wasn鈥檛 going to plan. I contacted my placement tutor and we decided I needed to see the year out.

I met my placement tutor almost every week to discuss how things were going. My placement tutor got me through this year and looking back I learnt a lot. I experienced a business that was running on a tight budget and how they had to cut unnecessary costs.

The year had a happy ending: I was offered a job at one of the schools I worked in and am still working there now!

What do you want to do when you graduate?

I am completing my teacher training at one of the schools I worked in during my placement year. My plan is to put my degree into practice and pass on my knowledge as a teacher.

What's your advice to new students?

Make sure you get to know your lecturers, as much as it may be scary at the start. They are amazing people with amazing experiences and they will help you further down the line. Make sure you take every opportunity to learn a new skill as they may come in handy in your future careers. Finally, go make some memories, go do that random side-quest and take time out of your day to have a laugh.
