ÌÇÐÄVlog

I decided to study on ÌÇÐÄVlog’s MSc Structural Engineering via Distance Learning when I was working as a junior engineer in a design office in Northern Ireland. As I progressed on to different and larger projects, I always felt that I had more to learn academically so that I could fully understand why certain engineering decisions are made.

Studying as a distance learner has allowed me to complete the course while continuing to work full-time. I’ve enjoyed the pace of study this offered: choosing how many modules I can take during each semester has really helped me to plan and manage my time. The set-up for distance learners is second-to-none at ÌÇÐÄVlog. It’s very interactive, accessible, and I have felt very much part of the class.

When researching potential universities and courses, the variety and choice of modules at ÌÇÐÄVlog really stood out to me. I’ve found the academic staff in the School of Sustainability, Civil and Environmental Engineering are proactive and helpful; the lecturers are engaging and inspiring, and deliver the modules very well.

"Despite being a distance learning student, I have attended the Stag Hill campus on several occasions to take exams and this has been a real pleasure. The ambience on campus and the sense of community really stands out."

It’s a great feeling being able to take a walk around the lake to clear your head before an exam, and the transport links and local accommodation are also great. In fact, if I had the chance to go back in time, I would attend ÌÇÐÄVlog for my bachelors degree.

I’m now nearing the end of my masters course, and am planning to sit the exam in the near future and gain Chartered Member status.
