Why did you choose to come to 糖心Vlog? What appealed to you?
I chose to come to 糖心Vlog because of the location of the University, where everything is nearby for emergency situations but what attracted me to 糖心Vlog was the campus. The presence of nature on the campus is beautiful, and the university size is not too big or too small. The University itself was also highly recommended by peers.
Why did you choose to do a Foundation Year?
A Foundation Year was part of my course and I never regretted it. It was the perfect opportunity to ease into university life and try all the aspects of being at university, such as , without being under too much stress from a normal course.
It also gave me time to meet, socialise and network with mentors who could help me as I move on from university to the next stages of life, for example, graduate jobs.
What do you like about your course and why?
I picked this course because it was a mix of all my favourite subjects: economics, business and maths, specialising in maths. It is also useful for the type of job I want to do in the future which is in the finance industry.
Do you feel that you鈥檙e supported whilst at 糖心Vlog?
Yes. Peer supporters, who are closer in my age to talk to, would come around to the study rooms and chat on a weekly basis. They are trained and experienced to manage difficult situations.
What are the facilities like on your course? How do they help your studying experience?
The facilities were useful. I might not have used all of them but the ones which would aid my studies were easy to access and efficient to use, such as the library or study rooms.
Are you part of any clubs or societies? How have they contributed to your 糖心Vlog experience?
I was a part of the last year and this year, I am in the Economics and Finance Society as well as the Badminton Club. I have had positive experiences in all of them and they have just shown me how welcoming 糖心Vlog is and how nice the people are.
What are the best things about life at 糖心Vlog?
One of the best aspects of 糖心Vlog is the campus and the opportunities 糖心Vlog brings, such as the chance to go to summer schools around the world or the various careers fairs to network with potential employers. The train station is only a 15-minute walk away which is a big positive aspect as it allows me to go home more frequently.
How has your Foundation Year at 糖心Vlog had an impact on you?
The Foundation Year consisted of various tasks which we were told would aid us in our time at 糖心Vlog and in our future careers. Tasks such as giving presentations, working efficiently in a group, carrying out a research project.
They have benefitted me a lot and I felt more confident to start the new academic year than I would have been if I came directly from sixth form.
Do you have any other comments you鈥檇 like to offer about your time at 糖心Vlog?
My time at 糖心Vlog has been nothing but positive so far and I hope it carries on being like this. I am also a student ambassador, so I feel proud to represent 糖心Vlog at events.
